To apply for membership to u3a in Kennet, please complete the online Application Form. If you would prefer to download and print a copy, you can download and print the pdf version of the Application Form below the online form.

Fees and Payment

The membership year is from 1st August to 31st July.  Annual Membership is £12.00 per person, plus a joining fee of £3.00. Please note: a reduced Membership fee of £6.00 (+ the £3.00 joining fee) applies for those joining after 1st March until the end of the membership year. 
Our fees includes a payment to our National Organisation, the Third Age Trust, which provides a wide range of services and benefits, including liability insurance cover for our Groups.

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

    All Members must:

    • abide by the principles of the U3A movement.

    • always act in the best interest of the U3A and never do anything to bring the U3A into disrepute.

    • abide by the terms and conditions of the constitution.

    • treat fellow members with respect and courtesy at all times.

    • comply with and support the decisions of the elected committee.

    • advise the committee ((ie Membership Secretary) of any change in your personal details.

    • abide by the Member Code of Conduct.


    PRIVACY STATEMENT

    The u3a in Kennet processes member information (including photographs) so that we can keep you informed about events, groups and activities as part of your membership. The u3a in Kennet’s lawful basis for collecting this information is legitimate interest/contract. In processing your information, the u3a in Kennet will:

    • store it securely (using the Beacon database).

    • use it to communicate with you as a u3a member.

    • share your information with group leaders for those groups you are a member of.

    • send you general information about the Third Age Trust (The Third Age Trust is the national office to which all u3as are affiliated).

    Gift Aid is reclaimed by the u3a in Kennet from the tax you pay for the relevant tax year. Your address given identifies you as a current UK taxpayer. Having ticked the box and signed the form, you have declared that you are a UK taxpayer and understand that if you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
    Please notify the Membership Secretary u3a in Kennet if you:

    • want to cancel your donation.

    • change your name or home address.

    • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.

    If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.


    NATIONAL PUBLICATIONS – THE THIRD AGE TRUST

    The Third Age Trust is the national organisation to which all u3as are affiliated.

    By ticking the box on the front of the form, you consent to your data being shared with the company who oversees the distribution of the Trust magazines.

    As part of your membership, you will be sent the Trust’s magazine, Third Age Matters. If you no longer wish to receive it, please inform the Membership Secretary on membershipsec@u3ainkennet.org.uk or 01249 891093.
